Accomplishment Report EventIn the Accomplishment Report Event, we would like to report on the results of this year‘s event as a token of my gratitude to everyone who has participated in the events, to the members who have supported the X-HUB TOKYO, and to the various support organizations. We also invite Mr. Yamamoto Yasumasa, known as an author of “How will technology of next generation change the world?” as a lecturer, and he gives a keynote speech about the latest trends of startups and technology in overseas and comparison to Japanese startups. Also, Kenjiro Momi, Representative Director President CRC, at TOYOKOH Inc. talks about the benefit for domestic startups to expand their business into overseas, keys for success, and experience of failure.

How to leverage the U.S. Startup Ecosystem
Overseas market strategies that Startups from Japan need to keep in mindIn U.S., there are different ecosystems being built in different areas, such as Silicon Valley, a mecca for startups where an advanced ecosystem has been built, Boston, where the world’s leading academic and research institutions are concentrated and is strong in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences and New York, a city at the forefront of finance, fashion, and media that produces hyphenated tech companies. In the first half, Gen Isayama who based in Silicon Valley will talk about the latest trends in U.S. including the affects of COVID-19 and what kind of startups are needed in each area, as well as the skills and mindset that Japanese startups need to compete in North America. In the second half, Mr. Toru Tokushige, founder of Terra Motors Corporation and Terra Drone Corporation and globally expanding, will talk about how to select and attack the market and the tips on how to actually enter the market etc. that Japanese startups need to know. Different startup ecosystems are being built in different areas of Europe, such as London, one of the world’s leading financial cities; Paris, home to one of the world’s largest incubation facilities; and Berlin and Munich, where unicorns have emerged due to their decentralized industrial structure. Tips for startups to expand Shenzhen, the leading DX city.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s X-HUB TOKYO project aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the city’s economy through exchanges with overseas startups that are active in the global market. The Overseas Expansion Seminar, which consists of five sessions, targets startups aiming at overseas expansion and support organizations considering collaboration with overseas startups, and will share (1) the characteristics of the ecosystem in each area and (2) the know-how necessary for overseas expansion. In the #1 Overseas Expansion Seminar, we will focus on the area of Shenzhen, China, and plan to introduce hints for overseas expansion that can be obtained from the characteristics of Shenzhen, which has developed as a DX city. We will also share tips and tricks for business strategy for overseas expansion. We are looking forward to welcoming not only startups, but also supporters and institutions.
